In order to use the Hitachi S-4700 FESEM, all users must meet the following requirements:

1. Taken MET 313 at Missouri S&T and passed, or an accredited SEM course with certificate available
2. Have 4 sessions of supervised instruction on the 4700 SEM and operator's discretion.
3. Pass 4700 Operating Exam with an 85 or above.
4. Demonstrate need for SEM analysis on a routine basis of not less than 1 session per month for at least 12 months.
